You can spy on me while I’m traveling this summer!  I won’t think it’s creepy.  After all, why else would there be loads of photography, stories, and videos up there?

I’m in the process of unpacking and partitioning goods that I’ve unconsciously accumulated.  I hate how I think I need so much stuff  but I love all the stuff that I think I need. Boo.

Anyway, throwing some banal floral photography your way:

That is the moon. That is the parking lot. Off of which the kid jumped.

Spring at UW has an amnesic quality… one where everyone forgets about the horrible Wisconsin winters and comes back for another year.

Nothing like a bit of magic to make you hip.

I do not like blue. I feared it. It scared me, paralyzed me, and carried me away. Whenever I gaze upon it, even a tiny pale blue reflection on the wall, I always feel I am going to drown inside it.

My best friend once told me that blue is her favorite color. So one day in spring, when we were going home together after school, I made up a story for her. The heroine of the story is lost in a remote village. She breaks into a deserted cloister and finds a stem of a blue narcissus on an altar. She breathes in a cloud of blue mist. People who breathe the mist go crazy and drown themselves in the water. Why? Because the narcissus grew from the tomb of a descendant of a mermaid. Later, the heroine finds the relics of the dead and brings it back to the sea. In the end, everyone is happy, the villagers are relieved and the narcissus disappears in the rain.

It is a dull story and a hilarious one. But let us pardon a daydreamer of twelve years old for her genuine desire to please her friend.

Also in that same year, my friend showed me a scar on her wrist and a small blade in her pencil case. Instead of helping her, I ran away from her because I was such a coward. Almost nine years has since then past, I left home and one day in April, I suddenly realized that the blue has never faded away.

I am wearing a blue coat.

My grandmother’s Bible had a cloth cover of inky blue,

I sent you a bunch of flowers of teary blue,

I am taking capsules of artificial blue

My father hated my present, a blue glass pen I bought in Santa Lucia Venezia.

A winter, at dusk, I woke up in a train steaming on the Adriatic Blue.

That day, both of us were walking in the middle of nowhere.  Just like that day, I think, I will lose myself in front of the crooked wood signpost, I won’t find the road, and the blue mist will blur the boundary between fiction and truth, novel and life, memory and dream, love and hatred, reality and illusion.

But it is okay, one day I will rest in deep blue,

That day, the sky may not be blue,

But it does not matter,

Since I will no longer have unquiet dreams of blue.

And everyone I love will join me in the eternal lively blue
